To go to the next row you are going to chain three, and from now on through this project that chain three will count as your first post. After you create your chain thee, flip your work over and you will begin working your shells on top of the shells you have already made. There will be a small space in the middle of your shells that you have already made so you are going to yarn over, push your hook through the small space that is in the center of your already created shell, yarn over, pull back through the space in the previous created shell, yarn over, pull through the first two loops, yarn over and pull through the second two loops. Then you will repeat the process. Chain one and then do two more double crochet stitches in the same hole as the previous two double crochet stitches.

Now you will go to the chain that is above your previously created post, you want your posts to line up so on the chain above the previously created post you will do one double crochet stitch. You are going to continue this pattern all the way across the length of the project.

You should continue on in this pattern for about twelve rows but it is entirely up to you depending on how large you want your dish cloth to be. After you have finished your rows, and you come to the end you will tie off your yarn just like the other projects you have worked on, use your yarn needle to weave the tails into the stitches and your shell and post wash cloth is completed.

Some people will do this pattern adding two instead of three, and it is even possible for you to crochet using the back bar of the chain stitches instead of using the actual chain stitch itself. In order to do this, you simply role your chain forward and enter the back bar of the chain with your hook instead of entering the chain itself. This give a more professional look and is a technique used my more advanced crochets’.
